There are millions of posts online guiding you on all the things you need to buy, register for, and get for your baby. I researched and added to my registry all the things I though were best based off those lists to make sure I was prepared for the big arrival of our little boy. When he came I was thankful for many of those things, but there were others that after trials with similar items I went out and bought and they have since become essential to our routine with our newborn. So, I compiled a list of the top three items we couldn't live without, so you can be sure not to leave them off your registry. You'll be thankful you didn't!
This list focuses on the MEDICAL items we were so thankful to have or went out and bought asap once we had our baby. The best part is all of these items are perfect for even a day old baby, so can be used immediately with your newborns.
Boogers
Snot suckers are great! We have one on each floor of our house, but babies get a lot of boogers and sometimes the quickest way to get them out is to just reach in there and pull them out with this amazing little tool, the oogiebear. It has two soft little hooks that you can just reach in and pull out the boogers with. It's quick, easy, and doesn't seem to bother the babies. It can also be used on ears for wax.
Gas
Out little boy is a big eater, and sometimes with lots of eating comes belly aches. He gets gassy sometimes, and no amount of tummy time or leg rocking or cycling helps get all the gas out. Little Remedies gas drops are a great way to support him and highly recommended by our pediatrician to help with that stubborn gas. A bonus is he loves the way they taste. He thinks it's the perfect snack after a healthy meal of breastmilk.
Nails
One of the scary parts of being a new parent is having to trim your newborns nails while they are flailing around, and yes they will need trimming and often. Babies nails grow quick, they are sharp, and you don't want your new little baby all cut up from swinging their arms around. Nail trimmers can be scary though, and I found a file exhausting and difficult to use, but this electric nail trimmer was the solution we needed. It comes with 3 different files for your baby based on their age, all of which are very soft to the touch, and you simply place your file of choice on the base and use one of the 4 speeds or directions to file your babies nails. It also comes with a light to help you see, is quiet so can be used on a sleeping baby, and if you bump a finger it's no big deal because the files are so soft your baby won't even notice. The best part is it also comes with additional spare heads, and heads for adults so you'll never not be able to use it.
These were our top three favorite medical items, but there are other varies of these out there as well.
