Soft, cheesy tortellini are perfect for little hands (and picky taste buds), while the creamy chicken sauce adds just the right amount of flavor. It’s one of those meals that looks and tastes like you worked way harder than you did—which, let’s be honest, is a total mom win.

Whether you’re feeding a table full of hungry toddlers or just want a no-stress dinner that brings everyone together, this recipe will be your new go-to on busy weeknights. The best part? It can be ready in under 30 minutes with our special tips, which means more time for bedtime stories, or finally sitting down with your own plate while it’s still warm, haha.

You can also eliminate the chicken and pour the sauce over a meaty dish with a side of pasta. Try it with our Turkey Meatloaf or Dairy Free Meatballs for another delicious dinner night the whole family will enjoy.

Parmesan Chicken Tortellini Sauce

Prep Time: 10 minutes, Cook Time: 25 minutes, Total Time: About 35 minutes

**TIP: Cut the time in half by using precooked or canned chicken

Ingredients:

  • Olive oil

  • 1/2-1 lb chicken cubed

  • 16 oz frozen cheese stuffed tortellini- thawed

  • 1 diced onion

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp dried basil

  • 1- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream

  • 1/4-1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

  • Dried parsley

  • *Add in additional veggies (our favorites are mushrooms and peas)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil and cook the cubed chicken until fully cooked, about 10 minutes. Set meat aside. (TIP: To save time- buy pre cooked chicken or canned chicken and skip this step).

  2. Add vegetables: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with some butter or olive oil. Sauté for 3–5 minutes, until softened and fragrant. (*Add any additional veggies into this step).

  3. Add the cream: Add the meat back to the skillet. Pour in the heavy cream, letting it come to a simmer, then add the cheese, and basil. Let thicken about 5-8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Cook and Add the Tortellini: While the sauce thickening, boil your tortellini in water, drain, then add the tortellini into the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce. Add parsley and mix.

  5. Serve & Enjoy: Serve warmed. Sprinkle with more cheese, basil, or parsley as garnish.
